The Crown star Claire Foy was cast as Lisbeth Salander in the 2018 thriller, The Girl in the Spider’s Web. But Foy wasn’t the first actress to play the role of the tattooed computer hacker. Actress Noomi Rapace originated the role in the Swedish-language Millenium film trilogy.
She passed the torch to Rooney Mara, who played Salander in the American remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The movie didn’t do very well at the box office, and the studio decided to go in a different direction and gave the part to Foy.
