Audiences got a glimpse of Thanos, the Marvel Cinematic Universe villain, at the end of The Avengers. He was expected to appear in the following summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy, where he would have a bigger, more significant role.
That’s when actor Josh Brolin became involved, replacing actor and stuntman Damion Poitier who was cast for the part only for the short end-credits scene featured on The Avengers. Thanos’ portrayal is done through motion-capture technology and voice acting, both done by Brolin.
