When a relationship ends, it seems as though love is everywhere. Every song on the radio was one you sang to one another, and every TV show was one that you binge-watched with him. If you really want to get over your ex, here are some movies that will remind you that not every relationship ends badly and also that you absolutely do not need her/him/them.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
This movie is great when things are still raw. The couple in this film (Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet!) take part in a procedure that will erase their memories of their relationship together entirely. We all know how it feels to want to have never met the person who broke your heart, but this movie will also remind you that sometimes it is worth the pain.
(500) Days of Summer
Zooey Deschanel is the embodiment of manic pixie dream girl in this movie which shows how even a perfect-seeming relationship can go sour. Tom, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt is our hopeless romantic, but we do see him come to terms (eventually) with the thought of losing this relationship.
Bridget Jones’ Diary
Bridget (Renee Zellweger) is the most lovable goof and the queen of relationship drama. You can’t help but laugh and feel good about love when watching Bridget make embarrassing mistake after embarrassing mistake. There is also a good amount of eye candy in this film too!
Bridesmaids
Grab your girlfriends, wine, and snacks and have a night in complaining about how awful your ex was, while watching this hilarious film. By the end of the movie, the girls feel as though they are part of your friendship group anyway!
Legally Blonde
Even Elle Woods’ can get her heart broken! This film is the perfect dose of girl power and will remind you of the amazing things you can do yourself if you channel your sadness into improving yourself. That doesn’t mean you have to apply for Harvard Law School of course!
Celeste & Jesse Forever
This movie explores what happens when you marry your best friend, only to realize that you were better off as friends! This movie will probably make you cry, but at least you didn’t get married and potentially ruin your friendship with your best friend, right?
The Notebook
The most romantic film ever. Fact. Watch this when you want to be reminded that the path of true love doesn’t run smooth, but boy is it worth it. Eventually you will find your own Noah, and hopefully, he will look just like Ryan Gosling!
Whether you want to get angry, laugh it out, have a cry or just believe in love again, there is a movie for that. So grab your snacks and your favorite blanket and watch them all until you feel better.
