Actress Rachel Weisz played leading lady Evelyn Carnahan in the first two Mummy movies, a role that became her international breakthrough. She decided to opt out of the third film after supposedly having problems with the script.
Maria Bello stepped up to replace Weisz as Evelyn Carnahan in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, the trilogy’s final instalment. Fortunately, there was a time jump between this film and its predecessor, which helped distract audiences from the major change and helped them accept it.
