Veronica Quaife was the female lead of The Fly, and the one left alive at the end of the film after tearfully shooting her partner, Seth Brundle. The only way in which a sequel would have made sense was to have Veronica and Seth’s part human, part house-fly offspring to lead it.
Veronica gets killed off in the first scene of The Fly 2, and Geena Davis didn’t want to play such a small role. Actress Saffron Henderson took on the role, gave birth to Martin Brundle, and made the sequel possible.
