When Underwood won “American Idol,” she was awarded a five-album deal with her record label. After “Storyteller” was released, all her obligations with the label concluded and the two parted ways. Of course, there were plenty of other labels that wanted to work with Underwood, and a deal was quickly drawn up with Universal Music Group and Capitol Nashville. This was an important move for the singer, as it signaled the first time she was able to properly choose who to work with.
