She’s been on reality TV, sitcoms and in films – what’s the next step. Well, in Robert Greenblatt’s opinion, the answer was obviously live TV. Apparently, the man in charge of NBC Entertainment is a huge fan of Underwood’s, and he figured she was the best choice to play Maria in their live adaptation of musical, “The Sound of Music.” It was the singer’s first leading role, but she took to it with ease. Reviews were incredibly positive and heaped a lot of praise on Underwood for her portrayal.
