Deflecting negative comments has become second nature to the twins, they receive a lot of negative attention from strangers. They also receive some criticism from a bit closer to home, actually a lot closer to home – their mom. It has been reported that their mother is dead set against cosmetic surgery, her sons even have tried to persuade her to have a procedure done. Mike and Matt’s mom worries her sons are unhappy and their obsession with changing their appearance is their attempt at fixing that unhappiness.
