There is a strange and inarticulable etiquette around cakes that get brought into public places – how big a slice you take, how you cut the cake, etc. However, as inarticulable as that etiquette is, we can confidently assert that at no point does it sanction cutting the cake like this.
We’ve literally never seen a cake cut this way – and we’ve, perhaps ill-advisedly, had more cakes than we have had hot dinners. Nonetheless, we have to respect the gumption of this person leaving a note at the scene of their crime.
