Support beams give every renovator a headache. You just can’t move them no matter how badly they fit in your perfect new plan for the kitchen layout (unless you want to risk the entire house collapsing).
So what do you do? You work with what you have, and sometimes that means ending up with a kitchen island that has two massive pillars right smack in the middle of it, looking as if they’re about to crush the whole thing.
