Some cars just stand out when they feature in Hollywood movies. They ooze cool and many of us sat watching in the movie theater would do almost anything to be able to drive one. Here are some of the cool movie cars many motorheads wish they could get their hands on.

Light Runner – Tron: Legacy

The original Tron movie from the ‘80s brought people into the fictional video game world, resulting in some visually amazing scenes. Tron: Legacy, the sequel to Tron, came out in 2010, and the scenes were a million times cooler thanks to the advancements in technology. One of the coolest vehicles in the 2010 sci-fi movie was the Light Runner. It was super agile, and it boasted a ton of weaponry, including missile launchers and mine droppers.

Bumblebee/Chevrolet Camaro – Transformers

Bumblebee was originally an old-school VW Beetle before Michael Bay brought the Transformers to the big screen in his action blockbusters. In those Michael Bay movies, Bumblebee was transformed, and he now was a yellow Chevrolet Camaro. It turned out to be one of the coolest first cars any teenage movie character has ever had the privilege of driving, much to the delight of the lead actor, Shia Labeouf.

Lotus Esprit – The Spy Who Loved Me

James Bond drove his iconic white Lotus Esprit around the roads of Europe before being chased into the water by villains hot on his tail. While his female companion was looking a bit concerned, Bond calmly flipped a switch and turned this luxury sports car into a submarine. He casually drove the car under the water, and another movie car icon was born.

DeLorean DMC-12 – Back to the Future

The DeLorean was actually a failed project attempting to introduce a new supercar to the car market. They were only in production from 1981 – 1983 but thanks to featuring in the 1985 sci-fi adventure Back to the Future, they became one of the most iconic cars of all time. Now redesigned as a time machine, kids and adults everywhere idolized the car with the famous gullwing doors.

Pontiac Trans Am – Smokey and the Bandit

Burt Reynolds starred in this action comedy that involves huge chunks of the film spent in an epic car chase. Reynolds is driving a Pontiac Trans Am throughout the movie alongside a huge truck that is hauling its cargo across the country as quick as possible. Sales of the Trans Am doubled in the two years after the movie’s release. Thanks to boosting his sales, the then president of Pontiac promised Burt Reynolds a new Trans Am each year.

Dodge Charger – The Fast and the Furious

In a movie that is filled with modified and imported cars, Vin Diesel brings out an all-American beast for the final race in the action movie that kicked off the Fast and the Furious franchise. The car is just pure muscle, and the engine sounds unlike many other cars in history. The iconic engine sticking out of the hood makes for one good looking car. The car manages to jump a set of train tracks with a rapidly approaching train threatening to wipe the car out, but it pulls the whole stunt off in style.

Practically every James Bond movie there has ever been has featured a cool car, but none can match the iconic Aston Martin DB5. this car came equipped with radar, smokescreen, missiles, and even an ejector seat for those unwanted passengers. The car even made a return to James Bond’s 2012 adventure Skyfall.

There have been hundreds of iconic cars in movies, but these are some of the coolest to have been placed in front of a camera. Fans of these movies will recognize the cars in an instant, and many of the cars have become iconic thanks to their inclusion in their respective movies.
