Things you didn’t know about Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves is one of the leading names in Hollywood, and we’ve no doubt you’ll be familiar with a least a couple of the movies he’s made. Considered Hollywood’s Mr. Nice Guy, Reeves has a long history of continually producing good movies, and this has made him something of a legend in the film world. Tales of his life and career are well documented, and, as such, he has developed a cult following among movie fans.

Whoa! This is one pretty darn amazing dude. If you were ever in doubt about people with money and success being upstanding citizens, put those worries to bed. Keanu is cool, rich, successful, handsome, and one of the nicest guys you’re likely to meet. Oh, and he’s made some pretty darn iconic movies in the process. Check out these stunning things you never knew about the nicest guy in Hollywood.

Keanu Reeves

He was a hockey nut

Like many Canadians, Keanu had a deep love of hockey and still does. He used to play as a goaltender, and, if the stories are to be believed, he was actually rather good. In spite of not having had a lot of training or coaching, Reeves seemed to possess a natural talent for the sport. One of his former teammates detailed his prowess in goal and talked about how Keanu’s hockey nickname was The Wall. In fact, Keanu harbored aspirations of playing hockey professionally for Canada, but an injury cut his career short and pushed him toward the world of acting.

He was in a band

Not content with being a Hollywood star, Reeves is also an accomplished musician, and most famously played bass guitar in the band Dogstar. Keanu was part of the group from 1991 until they disbanded in 2002. Dogstar enjoyed modest success, releasing two records, and an EP during their career. They also opened for Bon Jovi and played at the Glastonbury Festival in 1999. Though the band struggled to achieve huge success due to the wealth of strong and talented bands around in the ‘90s, they were decent enough, and we’d love to see them reunite – with Keanu of course!

He’s a normal person

The more you hear about Keanu Reeves, the more you realize just how normal and down-to-Earth he actually is. For instance, we bet you didn’t know that he regularly rides the subway, and footage has emerged of him giving up his seat for other people? Also, he has been known to hang out with the homeless. Reports of him hanging out and sharing snacks with homeless people in West Hollywood are pretty commonplace. And, the best thing about it all is that it’s natural and not staged for the camera. Reeves is a famously private individual, only interacting with the media when contractually obliged to.

Keanu Reeves

He doesn’t have his high school diploma

School is important, but it’s not the be all and end all, and Keanu is proof that even those who don’t do well in school can make something of themselves. The Hollywood superstar never received his high school diploma. A child of a broken home, Reeves was constantly moved around as a kid and was expelled from several schools He has never actually received his high school diploma, but, as you can probably tell, he’s never needed anything less in his life!

This small window into the life and career of Keanu Reeves should give a good indicator of what the man is like. We have heard a lot of really great things about him, and, from what we’ve read they are all true. Keanu has had a difficult life in places, and, in other places, he has done incredibly well and made a success of himself. But, he should be considered one of the great inspirations of the entertainment world.
