It might be all the way up in the sky, but so are our thoughts as we can’t stop thinking about space. Just what lies up in the stars? Is there anybody out there? Will we ever get to see it for ourselves? If you’re like us, then here are the perfect places to visit if you love space.

Kennedy Space Center, Florida

If you love space, then you’ll want to add the Kennedy Space Center to the top of your list of places to visit. Why? There are so many space facilities here, including the launch pad used for the Apollo, Gemini, and Mercury programmes, in addition to a variety of space shuttles that have all been in outer space over the years. As if that wasn’t enough, there is also a vast selection of history and information about all space travel crammed into the walls of the center. Still not convinced? If you’re lucky, you might even get to see a launch on your visit.

Norway

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to see part of the galaxy’s many wonders with your own eyes? Well, wonder no more as a trip to Norway could give you the answers you’re looking for. This is said to be one of the best countries to see the Northern Lights thanks to its incredible remoteness and perfect atmosphere. Visitors can expect to see their very own light show anywhere between November and February depending on the conditions. However, if you book your trip before January, you might even get to experience a Polar Night, too. That’s where the night lasts more than 24 hours to you and us.

Tanegashima Space Center, Japan

This might sound familiar, but we’re not talking about the place where James Bond defeated Ernst Stavro Blofeld. We are, in fact, talking about the legal Japanese space programme that has seen plenty of satellite launches over the years. The center is found on Tane Island where visitors can come at any time of the year unless they are using it to launch a new spacecraft into the sky. To top it off, any visitors also get the chance to play with a full-scale replica of the Experiment Module. Now it’s time to feel like a proper astronaut!

Star City, Russia

Once upon a time, this would have been completely shut off from the public’s view. However, Star City is now a significant pull to take a tour to Russia for anyone that loves space. Here is home to where the country trains all their astronauts ready for their time in space. All you need to do to take a look inside is a book a tour, and you’re in! Once in Star City, you’ll be able to look at all 20,000 exhibits in the Space Museum, including their space vehicles and space suits. The only place off-limits to the public is the training and living quarters.

Arecibo Radio Telescope, Puerto Rico

Of course, telescopes are the best way to see up close in space. Now, you can look at the world’s biggest radio telescope and see what life is like on the other side for a change. Many believe the Arecibo Radio Telescope found in Puerto Rico is a piece of art in its own right thanks to its incredible size nestled within the jungle. You can see all of this and more from the viewing platform that looks down over the creation. To top it off, this telescope also features in many films, including Contact and GoldenEye.

There are so many places to visit if you love space all around the world. Although we might not be able to get up close and personal with the stars ourselves, we sure can take a look at some of the wonderful things that reside here on Earth instead.
