Movies to get excited about in 2020

Let’s face it, everyone gets excited about what’s coming to the big screen. We’re a society that lives for entertainment, and cinema is a massive part of that. It certainly goes through eras, and it seems as if we’re in an age of superhero movies, remakes, and reboots. You can’t deny that a good reboot doesn’t get the blood pumping, which means that 2020 is going to be a great year, not to mention a few fan favorites on the way.

Wonder Woman 1984

Wonder Woman was probably one of the most successful DC movies to be released since the new Batman era. The film got fantastic ratings, so now we say hello to Wonder Woman 1984. As the title suggests, this movie is set in the 80s as opposed to the present day, which gives us more insight into Diana Prince’s past. Fans will also be thrilled to know that Kristen Wiig will be co-starring, climbing on board the DC bus as Cheetah, who ends up becoming a rather scathing villain. The movie is due to be released on June 5, 2020.

Bond 25

Celebrating the 25th Bond movie, Daniel Craig continues to star as the prolific super spy despite rumors that other actors, such as Idris Elba, would be taking the reins. This movie follows the plotline that Bond is no longer in active service and is trying to lead a peaceful life. Of course, this doesn’t end well, as his old buddy Felix Leiter turns up on behalf of the CIA needing his help. Bond 25 will be released on April 8, 2020.

Godzilla vs. Kong

Godzilla’s 2014 remake got a lot of criticism for having too much storyline and not enough action, so filmmakers are giving people just that. This will be a showdown no one will forget and features the amazing Millie Bobby Brown, who stole everyone’s hearts playing Eleven in Stranger Things. Who will win during this epic battle?

Top Gun: Maverick

Top Gun became a classic practically as soon as it was released. People loved it, and they wanted more, only it’s taken 33 years for a sequel to even be in development. However, while the release date was pushed back a year, we now know when they’re planning on releasing the movie. Filmmakers have promised that the film is due to release on June 26, 2020. There is no trailer, but fans can rest assured that their favorite stars are returning. Tom Cruise will feature alongside Val Kilmer and Thomasin McKenzie.

The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle

Doctor Dolittle is a concept that was created in the ’60s and remade again with Eddie Murphy in the ‘90s. It’s long overdue a modern remake, but it appears that filmmakers are trying to make it one of the best kids movies ever made. The role of Doctor Dolittle is played by Robert Downey Jr. who is supported by what seems to be an all-star cast, featuring Michael Sheen, Antonio Banderas, Tom Holland, Emma Thompson and many, many more. The movie is due out on January 17, 2020.

There is so much to look forward to when it comes to upcoming titles in 2020. We’ll also be introduced to the new era of Marvel movies with movies such as The New Mutants, Gambit, The Eternals, Black Panther 2, Black Widow and Shang-Chi. If that’s not something to be excited about, then we don’t know what is. Keep your eyes peeled for more announcements.
