Great movies about college

College isn’t for everyone, but we’d highly recommend going there if you haven’t already. Sure, it might be filled with challenging assignments and boring classes, but it’s also the place where you get to meet lifelong friends, have wild parties, and make some amazing memories. No experience in life quite compares to college, and you definitely won’t regret going there. Of course, if that’s not enough to convince you, then maybe these movies will be.

Animal House

For a classic example of how crazy college can be, ‘Animal House’ is always a good film to watch. Admittedly, the antics in this movie are a bit more exaggerated than what you might expect to find on a real campus. However, if you want an idea of how wild frat houses can really get, this is still a movie to turn to. Plus, it’s considered to be one of the best comedy films ever made, so that alone should make it worth a watch.

Legally Blonde

With the long-awaited second sequel hitting theaters in February 2020, now is as good a time as any to rewatch the masterpiece that is ‘Legally Blonde.’ No, the movie isn’t the greatest piece of film ever made, but it’s still incredibly captivating. Reese Witherspoon gives the performance of her career as the underestimated Elle Woods who proves all her haters wrong when she graduates from Harvard Law. Her story is empowering and easy to root for, mainly because the character is so fun to watch.

Pitch Perfect

If you didn’t join a club or society in high school, then college is the place to do it. There are so many options available to you, with a capella groups now a popular one thanks to ‘Pitch Perfect.’ The movie follows the Barden Bellas as they go from zeros to heroes in the college a capella championships. There’s a lot of laughs, a few tears, and plenty of incredible vocal performances along the way. We could listen to them performing the Riff-Off on repeat forever.

Neighbors

We can’t imagine many suburban families would enjoy living right next to a frat house. Unfortunately for Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne’s characters in ‘Neighbors,’ they didn’t have much of a say in the matter. They found themselves living in a house adjacent to Delta Psi Beta, aka, the fraternity from hell. The duo spent most of the movie trying to one-up the frat boys and get rid of them, usually with hilarious consequences. If you’re in need of a few laughs one evening, this is the film to watch.

Monsters University

So, if you’re looking for an accurate depiction of college life, ‘Monsters University’ might not be the best example. After all, it’s an animated film about a load of monsters who go to college to try and scare children. However, the movie still features many elements that students might find familiar, including the difficulty of making friends and the challenges of pleasing your professor. Plus, ‘Monsters University’ makes a feel-good addition to any movie night.

No movie will ever give you an entirely realistic insight into what college is like. However, no two people have the same experience when they go there anyway. Just because these films aren’t entirely true to life, that doesn’t mean they still can’t give you some pointers about how to succeed in college.
