College is one of the best experiences you can ever have. It represents the time in your life when you’re no longer a kid but not quite a proper adult, and it’s where you make some of your best memories. College marks the last time you’re truly free to do what you want before you have to settle down and start earning a living. Legally Blonde
Who doesn’t love a good story about an underdog who proves everyone wrong? That’s exactly what Legally Blonde is all about. Reese Witherspoon’s character might seem like a ditzy blonde with no real prospects, but by the end of the comedy film, she’s the one reigning victorious. The actress is superb as Elle Woods, truly embodying the character in one of her most iconic roles to date. If you ever wondered what it was like attending Harvard Law then this movie… will probably not give you an accurate impression. It’s still fun to watch though.
Pitch Perfect
Everyone wants to fit in when they’re at college, right? You’re in a new environment surrounded by a bunch of strangers, so finding where you belong is pretty much a priority. For Beca, Anna Kendrick’s character in Pitch Perfect, that place happened to be in her college’s a capella group. Although the Barden Bellas are initially hesitant to step outside of their comfort zone, Beca convinces them to try something new, and it ultimately pays off. Once the film is over, the student’s life is transformed, and she finds herself loving the college experience. That’s something a lot of people can probably relate to.
Monsters University
After the first Monsters, Inc. movie debuted we never imagined we’d get a sequel to it. However, more than a decade after the original was released, a follow-up arrived in the form of Monsters University. It showcased Mike, Randall, and Sully in a new environment, and introduced a bunch of new characters who were hard not to love. The film isn’t complicated, following a fairly generic story structure full of ups and downs. However, seeing these charming characters in a college setting really makes this an excellent choice for a movie night.
Animal House
When it comes to college movies, they don’t get more classic than Animal House. This comedy film from the late ‘70s is an embodiment of all the stereotypes surrounding college life, particularly when it comes to fraternities. The students of Delta Tau Chi take on the dean in this epic movie which will undoubtedly have you yearning for the antics of your college days. It’s a great way for you to escape for a few hours and remember that life used to be fun before you had to grow up and start earning a living.
