The Comic-Con 2018 roundup

If you pride yourself on being a super geek, there’s a high chance that you’ve been pretty darn excited to learn everything there is to know about this year’s Comic-Con. Yes, if you didn’t get the chance to don your coolest cosplay and mingle with some like-minded individuals, you may have simply tried to forget about the fact that it was happening and focus on your World of Warcraft mega-match instead. Thankfully, you don’t have to see the event happen before your very eyes to know what went down at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con 2018 (SDCC), because we have the ultimate round-up right here…

Aquaman is diving solo

Each year, Comic-Con brings us a new and improved edition of Superhero-watch. We get the chance to get ourselves up to date with some of our favorite supers and get to grips with who is coming into our lives sooner rather than later. At this year’s Comic-Con, it was all about the long-haired, big-muscled physique of Aquaman. Played by Jason Momoa, Aquaman first came onto our screens in DC’s Justice League, but Comic-Con goers were treated to the first official trailer of his very own solo movie. If you haven’t watched it yet, you should probably do that right now. It’s alright; we’ll wait.

Star Wars will be right under your nose

If you’re a fan of sci-fi movies, there’s a high chance that you’re as obsessed with the Star Wars franchise as we are. You’re probably so used to seeing these famous characters on your screen in all of the epic movies that you might not have stopped to think about them coming into your life in another medium. Well, Lucasfilm is here to change that! At SDCC, Lucasfilm confirmed that they would be teaming up with some pretty awesome writers to bring two prequel novels into our lives. One of these books will follow the life and times of Padme Amidala.

Nicolas Flamel is alive and well

Let’s be honest, we’ve been waiting for a new trailer for The Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald for forever, and we were even considering buying a Time-Turner to get the ball rolling. A brand new trailer was released at SDCC 2018 – and boy is it good! Most intriguing about this new trailer is that it introduced us to a character we have grown to understand throughout the Harry Potter franchise. Yes, we’re talking about Nicolas Flamel! It seems as though this alchemist makes an appearance in the Fantastic Beasts sequel, and even gets a visit from our favorite No-Maj, Jacob Kowalski.

Batman’s new look

As one of the most famous superheroes in the galaxy, we don’t want to suggest that what Batman wears is important – but it kinda is. In recent years, Batman’s suit has strayed from tradition and people have begun to separate the Dark Knight to his comic book counterpart. Thankfully, DC confirmed that they would be taking their favorite superhero back to basics for their next adventure, and the black trunks are back! They released never-before-seen illustrations of their new suit and released them at San Diego Comic-Con – and they’re pretty darn awesome.

Buffy is back to slay

If you were alive and kicking during the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, you’ll know that Buffy the Vampire Slayer was kind of a big deal, and we were all devastated when the show came to an end. Amazingly, SDCC came with a brand new surprise when Joss Whedon confirmed that a brand new reboot is in the works! This new reboot will feature an all-new cast but follow the same themes and storylines. We’re so excited!

If you missed out on Comic-Con this year, you don’t need to worry. What more SDCC goss could you possibly need? We’ve got it all here for you, in black and white.
