Most people who think of fantasy find that “The Lord of the Rings” often comes to mind. The immensely successful series has become synonymous with the genre, and all 10+ hours of film are worth your attention. It’s the final film of the trilogy that really gives it everything, though. It’s emotional, powerful, and a complete visual wonder. If you’re not engrossed in the story (which is near enough impossible), you’ll be distracted by the fantastic world that Peter Jackson created on screen. It will take your breath away

When it comes to fantasy, all you really need is a good imagination. That’s exactly what Jim Henson had when he directed the 1986 movie “Labyrinth.” His eye for the wonderfully bizarre made the film really come to life, creating a fantasy world that was both familiar and extraordinary. While “Labyrinth” is several decades old now, you always need a classic when you have a movie marathon.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
A compelling fantasy story that translates wonderfully to the big screen, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” is one film you should definitely set out time to watch. It has everything you’d expect from the genre, including mystical creatures, a detailed (and beautiful) world, and a monumental battle. This is a feel-good film for all the family that won’t be afraid to tug at your heartstrings.
The Prisoner of Azkaban
The “Harry Potter” series captivated the world and sent J.K. Rowling from being a struggling nobody to the world’s first billionaire author. The films are now some of the highest grossing in the world, and all of them are worth a watch. However, it’s “The Prisoner of Azkaban” that really deserves your attention. The most standalone of all the “Harry Potter” movies, the film marked a darker direction for the series which made it more approachable for adults as well as children. The captivating story and immersive world ought to have you engrossed for a good couple of hours.
