Movies projected to come out in 2020

Hollywood cinema has never been bigger, and for most cinema-goers, the movies being produced have never been better. 2019’s latest, greatest and supposedly final Marvel installment Avengers: Endgame has just smashed box-office records, now officially one of the highest grossing films of all time, second only to 2009’s Avatar. Cinema is at the top of its game, and we are excited to see what the future of film entails.

Here are the most hotly anticipated movies coming out in 2020. All of which this time next year you’ll be invited to watch. Let’s hope they are worth the wait.

Avatar

Avatar 2

The long-awaited sequel to Avatar will finally hit the big screens next year, and there’s certainly a lot of expectations for James Cameron’s follow up to the epic sci-fi fantasy. With a total of four sequels in the pipeline up until 2027, the franchise is set to take the box-office by storm once again. Cinema-goers will be queueing up in their thousands to take their second flight into the spectacularly magical realm of Pandora. Bring it on.

Barbie

The live-action adaptation of the toy box’s greatest glamour-heroine has been in the works for some time now. But it has recently been confirmed that the film is officially on for a 2020 release, with none other than the Margot Robbie to play the title role. She’ll co-produce too, and has teased that she’s honored to take on a film that she thinks will have a massively positive impact on children worldwide.

Legally Blonde 3

Reese Witherspoon’s character of Elle Woods has become a feminist icon, taking on a lingering after-life of her own ever since the latest sequel was released in 2003. With the feminist stirrings of #metoo and other movements really making an impact on the entertainment industry in recent years, there’s never been a better time for Elle and her girl-power blonde bravado to return. Everyone knows that blondes have more fun, but in 2020, they’re also ready, willing and able to take over the world.

Bond 25

It seems cinema will never quite get enough of the macho-glamour of 007, as next year will see in the franchise’s 25th film. Daniel Craig will return for his final appearance as James Bond, and the plot will follow Bond as he is forced out of his retirement in Jamaica to find a scientist kidnapped by a mysterious villain armed with new technology.

A Quiet Place 2

The ever-so-silent horror A Quiet Place was a surprise hit that crept up on the box-office in early 2018. Audiences were thrilled with its take on a family living in a post-apocalyptic world, threatened by blind monsters hunting them with an acute sense of hearing. It was exhilarating, heart-rending, and down-right scary. A sequel has been confirmed, and it’s due to be released in silent cinemas across the world in May 2020.

Scoob!

Jinkies! Did anyone call for another Scooby Doo film? It doesn’t matter. We’re getting one anyway. Instead of continuing the campy live-action seen in 2002’s Scooby-Doo and its sequel in 2004, an animated version is set to reboot the franchise instead, giving us more fun-filled mishaps of the beloved Mystery Inc. gang in cartoon yet again – where they belong!

Hollywood’s got some big things just around the corner, so be patient film-lovers, these blockbusters are only one year away.
