Movies that didn’t quite help these actors’ careers

If you’re a fan of your movies, you’ll know that there are are some pretty darn epic movies out there… But that there are also some movies that failed to make the cut. They are cringe-worthy, they flopped at the box office, and the castings were just all wrong. You’d like to think that these movies have an effect on the filmmaker and the filmmaker alone, but it seems as though there is some kind of domino effect when it comes to the world of Hollywood, and these movies also destroyed the actors’ careers…

Madonna – Swept Away

Don’t get us wrong; we love the Queen of Pop. Madonna is a true legend. However, the phrase “Don’t give up your day job” came to mind when critics were watching Swept Away. Sure, Madonna is the best when it comes to singing to millions of people, selling records, and wearing pointy corsets, but many believe she is not cut out to be an actress. Considering this movie was also directed by her former husband, Guy Ritchie, this just makes it even worse.

Movies that didn’t quite help these actors’ careers

Freddie Prinze Jr. – Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed

Oh, Freddie. We SO wanted you to do well in the world of Hollywood. This actor rose to fame in classic teen movies such as She’s All That and I Know What You Did Last Summer – and he soon became one of the most famous actors of the ‘90s. However, it all seemed to go wrong when he donned his Justin Bieber haircut and questionable clothes to take a ride in The Mystery Machine for Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. The movie was a flop, and nobody wanted to work with Prinze Jr. after his performance. Ouch!

Mike Myers – The Love Guru

If you cast your mind back to the ‘90s and early ‘00s, you’ll remember that Mike Myers was the King of Comedy. He was the voice of Shrek, as well as the hilarious Austin Powers and Wayne’s World movies. He was untouchable, right? Well, it seems as though things started to go downhill for Mike when he wrote The Love Guru and even took on the leading role. Unfortunately, he had nobody to blame when critics slated his movie.

Jake Lloyd – Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace

If you’re a fan of the Star Wars franchise, Episode 1 probably isn’t at the top of your list. This film has been slated by fans and critics alike for years, but it seems this movie also sparked the end of one actors’ career. Little Jake Lloyd was cast as Anakin Skywalker in this movie, and he was just an adorable child at the time. Sadly, his acting talent did not impress, and he was even bullied at school because of his role in the movie. Because of this, he decided to retire from acting before his career even began.

Taylor Lautner – Abduction

When you think of Taylor Lautner, you probably think of The Twilight Saga. After all, plenty of people were Team Jacob. He rose to fame at a fairly young age and was thrust into the limelight, but it seems as though his talent couldn’t keep up with his name because his fame soon started to wane. When he was cast in the action movie, Abduction, he was supposedly going to transform into an awesome leading man who could jump off buildings, win every single fight that came his way, and just be a total bad boy. The result? It just didn’t work.

Movies that didn’t quite help these actors’ careers

There will always be movies that flop in the box office, but what’s even more awkward is that these movies also give us the chance to say goodbye to some of these actors…
