The loveliest geek women in television and movie history

When you think of a geek, there’s a high chance that you think of a young boy with glasses, braces, and a whole load of pimples on his face. Well, we’re here to break that stereotype, y’all. Nerds aren’t people to be shunned from society, and they definitely aren’t all male. There are so many smart women in the world of popular culture, and alongside knowing everything there is to know about everything because they’re super smart, they also know that they are more than just their looks or their intelligence. Yes, these geek women are all pretty lovely, and we kinda want to be friends with all of them.

Amy Farrah Fowler

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, there’s a high chance that you’re pretty obsessed with The Big Bang Theory. It’s one of the best sitcoms to make its way onto our screens in years, and we still haven’t gotten over the fact that it’s come to an end. Although this show has blessed us with some of the coolest (and nerdiest) characters in the world, it also introduced us to one of the loveliest. Amy Farrah Fowler was not just any ol’ neuroscientist. She was also extremely patient, loyal, and emotionally strong. After all, anyone who can deal with Sheldon Cooper is a saint in our books…

Leslie Knope

Parks and Recreation holds a dear place in our hearts, and Leslie Knope will always be one of our favorite characters in existence. Sure, she may be pretty highly-strung and a bit intense sometimes, but that’s exactly what put her above the rest of the town of Pawnee. With her lists, her binders, and her amazing ability to give the best gifts, Leslie proves throughout the whole series that she always has her loved ones’ best interests at heart. In fact, we’re pretty sure that she sometimes put her friends (okay, Anne) before her husband most of the time. That’s pretty awesome.

Hermione Granger

She may not have had too many friends while she was at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but Hermione Granger always put those closest to her first. Yes, the Harry Potter know-it-all always loved to be top of the class, but she also loved to know that her favorite people were happy. She risked her life to help Harry, she broke the rules numerous times to help the Wizarding world, and she always made sure to do the right thing. Okay, she may have made a few enemies along the way, but there was no doubt about the fact that Hermione Granger was one of the loveliest geek women to ever grace our screens.

Lisa Simpson

Although she may have come from a rather strange and dysfunctional family, Lisa Simpson always made sure that she put her loved ones first. She made her way to school to show everyone else up, she got straight As, and she excelled in every academic task put in front of her. Yet, this intelligence never took over her life. She knew that she was just another member of her family, and she knew that everyone had their own strengths. Hers just happened to be a little bit more impressive than most.

The world of television and movies has brought some of the coolest female geeks into our lives, and we will be forever thankful for this fact.
